The Evoker is an illager and a miniboss found in Minecraft Dungeons. When spawned, a music soundtrack plays.
- 4Behavior
Appearance[edit]
The evoker's appearance in Minecraft Dungeons is similar to its default counterpart in the base game, however, the evoker in Minecraft Dungeons is slightly bigger than other illagers, about 3 blocks tall.
Story[edit]
In the introduction, Walda the evoker is seen crowning the Arch-Illager as the ruler of the Illagers. As the Arch-Illager gets up from his throne, all the illagers except Walda bow, causing the Arch-Illager to hit Walda with the Orb of Dominance to force Walda to bow.
Spawning[edit]
It appears frequently on lower difficulties and appears as a boss in the Pumpkin Pastures, sometimes in the Colossal Rampart, Woodland Mansion, and sometimes in the Woodland Prison. It even spawns in levels where illagers are not normally found like the Desert Temple and the Lower Temple. It can also appear as a standard mini-boss during Ancient Hunts.
Behavior[edit]
The evoker has two attacks. It starts by summoning a stream of fangs then calls in a group of vexes. While not attacking, it attempts to stay a certain distance from the players by running.
- Summon fangs

The evoker raises its hands, enveloped in a yellow aura, then lowers them, summoning a stream of fangs out of the ground to hurt approaching players by snapping shut. The fangs appear in one of the three formations. The first is a line of 7 fangs from the evoker towards the targeted player, the second is a circle of 12 fangs around the evoker, and the third is simply fangs scattered around the evoker. This is its most powerful attack.
- Summon vexes
Behavior | Hostile |

The evoker raises its hands, enveloped in a purple aura, summoning 4 vexes in a circle around it.

Trivia[edit]
- In the evoker's boss fight theme, there is a 'wololoo' heard in it. This is the sound they make in the base game while turning a blue sheep red. The sound itself is a reference to another Microsoft franchise, Age of Empires, where the priest unit can turn enemy units into friendly units (changing the unit's color in the process) after making a 'wololoo' sound.
- This spell was the only one from the base game to not make it into Dungeons, possibly because of its status as an easter egg.
- However, the spell would not have not been included for being useless, as there are blue and red enchanted sheep, which have different effects.
- This spell was the only one from the base game to not make it into Dungeons, possibly because of its status as an easter egg.
- The evoker is one of the few mobs to be both a boss and a miniboss, the others being the Illusioner, Redstone Golem and the Ghast.
- When the evoker dies, it plays a new ghost screaming in the background with its death sounds. This screaming sound can also be heard in some levels such as the graveyard in the Creeper Woods.
- Because the evoker was added in the Beta, it is the first boss to be added in Minecraft Dungeons.
- When the Enchanter enchants the evoker, its HP increases by only 25%.
- It's possible to stun the evoker's fangs, which causes them to simply sit in place and not snap or move. This can be done with the Snowball enchantment.
- The Battle Robe's description states that Evokers are the ones that made it. In the Redstone Mines and very rarely in the Colossal Rampart, the evoker can rarely drop its Battle Robe when killed.
- The evoker is one of the only three mobs that can appear as a boss in more then one level. The others are the Illusioner and the Ghast.
- The evoker raises it’s eyebrows when summoning fangs, and closes it’s eyes when summoning vexes.
- The evoker's theme in the final ambush wave in Pumpkin Pastures is the Ambush music.
Lore[edit]
In the Novel[1] and Archie's Origin, two evokers were confirmed to have their real name:
- Walda the Evoker — A female evoker, was the Leader of a Woodland Mansion and orphaned Archie. In the end she put the crown on Arch-Illager's head and bows to him.
- Thord the Evoker — Archie's childhood and former bully.

Evoker's hat[edit]
In this site, there is a hat in the evoker's texture, but Does a hat exist in Minecraft's evoker texture?--Beans1512Talk/Contribs 13:18, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Sheep conversion spell - extra notes[edit]
Maybe some of this is worth adding to the article? If not, it's still probably interesting information.
Disclaimer: I have limited experience with the first Age of Empires, and a lot of experience with 2 and 3. However, it's been years since I've played any of these games.
- The priest unit was present in AoE, where it could convert enemy units while making the 'wololo' sound. The conversion was not instant and took some time.
- A similar unit was present in AoE 2, where it served a similar purpose (converting enemy units, and even buildings, if a certain technology is researched; the AoE 2 priest, or whatever is was called, did not make the 'wololo' sound).
- The color choice is not accidental. All three AoE games set blue as the default color for the player faction (Faction 1) and red for Faction 2, which is likely to be hostile (and definitely will be hostile in a two faction game for obvious reasons). In addition, there was a faction color scheme option in 2 which set the player faction blue (regardless of its base color) and all hostile factions red (regardless of their base colors).
- The mob being sheep may be part of the reference. At least in 2 and 3 (but probably in 1 as well) sheep are spawned on the map as a food source. They can be controlled by a faction if it leads its units to the sheep; sheep controlled by one faction (F1) can be captured by another faction (F2) if F2 has units next to F1's sheep while F1 does not (it's probably more complicated than that, but priests are not required for the conversion).

- I have a lot of experience with that game, a long time ago. True that the priest unit worked this way, and that this is just about the first AoE game. However I'm not sure why all of this would be relevant to the article. It may be best to just declare the game reference, as Age of Empires is a 20year old classical RTS game of the previous millennium and has no content relation besides the awesome reference. If you can find an official statement about the reference to this game, you could use that as the reference on the page. – Jack McKalling [ ] 12:03, 2 January 2018 (UTC)
Is there a meme found in minecraft???[edit]
I mean, Evokers can make the sound 'wololo', which is a meme i know well! is this an easter egg, or did that very meme come from the minecraft evoker? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 100.16.150.187 (talk) at 12:32, 30 March 2019 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
- This meme originates from the Age of Empires game. This fact is listed in the Trivia section of the article. --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 12:51, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
Deleting evoker/[pages][edit]
Greetings I feel that
Are useless since the information that those articles have is already speculated in Evoker. Silviu200530 (talk) 06:19, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
- They are transcluded on other pages like chunk format which is why they're subpages. NixinovaTC 06:43, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Ahh, thank you for the information. Silviu200530 (talk) 07:14, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Targeting range?[edit]
How far do these see? I attacked an Evoker, then ran away from vexes, now I get an endless stream of vexes whenever I come within ~50-80 meters of the mansion in any direction. Staying away a full day from the mansion didn't help. Mfb0 (talk) 08:06, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
- Suddenly the attacks stopped. I then found the Evoker directly outside the mansion, he fell between the mansion and surrounding terrain with no view on anything until I was directly next to him. Not sure how he got there from the third floor. --Mfb0 (talk) 12:41, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
I tested it. The Evoker's targeting range is actually 12 blocks. I don't know about the vexes though. Witherite Armor (talk) 00:42, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
Evoker White-Hat[edit]
In BE, an Evoker now has a sort of white hat. Like if you look at this website: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/meet-evokerSlingingDart612 (talk) 14:47, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
- Yea that was an unused texture for a while. The first post on this talk page was about exactly that. James Haydon (talk) 20:59, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

Ominous Banner[edit]
I noticed as I was spawning in some evokers with spawn eggs some of them spawned in with an ominous banner. I was on Java Edition, and I have not tested it with Bedrock yet. should I or someone else put it in the page? -- WeirdGamerAidan (talk) 00:31, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
Test it in BE first, ok? Witherite Armor (talk) 00:40, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
I spawned hundreds of evokers in BE and none of them had an Illager Banner, so either it is much rarer in BE, or it doesn't happen at all. -- WeirdGamerAidan (talk) 01:11, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
It's likely the banner doesn't happen at all. Witherite Armor (talk) 01:14, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
I just figured out that this is mentioned on the Illager page. -- WeirdGamerAidan (talk) 02:55, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
Sounds[edit]
The evoker and witch actually have three celebrate sounds. This was tested with command blocks. Please add other two celebration sounds. Witherite Armor (talk) 01:07, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
Evokers attack baby villagers in java[edit]
Evoker Minecraft
I was in java and put some baby villagers near some evokers and the evokers attacked the baby villager. I suggest fixing that info.
